With the increase in technology, there has been lots of discussion regarding the things our kids are and aren’t learning in school. I remember being SO excited in grade 4 to start the handwriting unit and loved the pretty writing I was able to create. I also loved feeling like I was that much closer to being like the grown ups – it seemed like they were always handwriting. In addition {and clearly the most important} it sure came in…
Jonah is absolutely SMITTEN with Kindergarten. He loves everything about it and comes home each school day exclaiming that it was SUPER fun! One of his favorite things so far has been his *special day* – a day close to his birthday where he gets to be the leader and helper all day, plus got to have his mommy there {yipee}, and bring a special treat to share with his class {I made cake pops – his request}. A couple…
A Date With My Boy {Eep…my FIVE year old!} #makingmemories
September was a bit of a crazy month, as you may remember. And between school starting, watching other kids, the regular busy-ness, and starting work I know Jonah has been starting to feel a little bit *tossed around*. From one place to the next, without much down time…so when I finally had a day off without ANYTHING else going on, I set a date for him and I. He was pretty excited for a jelly filled doughnut so off to…
Okay, so it wasn’t just me {shame}, but it was pretty awesome I must say. Brent and I started our day with massages – and it couldn’t have been better! Then, after my mother in law arrived and we picked the kids up from school, Brent and I drove to Calgary for the much anticipated Stone Temple Pilots concert. Calgary traffic hit us like a bugger, making us arrive 45 minutes after the doors opened. Though we weren’t too worried…
I know, I know….my blogging has been less than regular this past month. I promise it has nothing to do with not wanting to – heaven knows I have a million blog posts floating in my head that need to be written. I really just had a super busy month – busier than normal for sure, and while I look back and wonder how I survived, the truth is I didn’t feel overwhelmed at all. #thankful So just to give…
A couple of months ago I surprised Brent with tickets to the upcoming Stone Temple Pilots concert {best. wife. ever.} by mailing them to him at work: And because mailing things like this {even registered} makes me nervous, I took a photo of the tickets: I was away for the week when I sent them, making it even more awesome….and I so wish I had video of him opening them. See, it’s like pulling teeth to get this guy…
Last week on the night before I released these two to the school! *evil laugh* Brooklyn started grade 3 this year and Jonah began Kindergarten – and I couldn’t be any more excited for them and the experiences they are going to have. Plus, having each other at school a couple of days a week just makes me happy! And of course…..the morning of! One week in already….and they are LOVING it!…
Squishy Baff {NOT for the *Baff*} #makingmemories
A few months ago when the commercial came on for Squishy Baff, Jonah asked if we could buy it. Not only are we on a huge *buying stuff* hiatus {how much stuff do they even need???}, but it also looked like something I would regret buying. Bathtub cleanup anyone? Jonah asked if we could buy it when we were at the condo and I agreed. It the one place we splurge a little to make the holiday extra special. The…
Many who know me know that I suffered from anxiety for years {timeline totally related to becoming a mom}. Not noticeable, not medicated, but serious enough that many nights were spent awake in some form of panic. Luckily for my kids, it never prevented us from doing things. Road trips, fun activities, etc. were all experienced and enjoyed, but not without days, sometimes even weeks of sleepless nights and A LOT of self talk. Really, I’m a pro at the…
