With the increase in technology, there has been lots of discussion regarding the things our kids are and aren’t learning in school. I remember being SO excited in grade 4 to start the handwriting unit and loved the pretty writing I was able to create. I also loved feeling like I was that much closer to being like the grown ups – it seemed like they were always handwriting. In addition {and clearly the most important} it sure came in handy as a teenager – you know, handwriting my name with the current boy crush{es} to see how they would look together. I can’t be the only one who did that?
And I so want our kids to have some of these same experiences, technology or not. Which is why my heart beamed when I saw what Brooklyn {grade 3} had done on our little white board {used as our family prayer board to help our kids keep track of all those we are praying for}:
Now obviously I love WHAT she wrote {be still my heart}, but I also love HOW she wrote it. I love that she is learning handwriting in school and that she loves it, and even more that she is using it to write such loving messages – before the boy crushes take over. 😉
Are your kids still learning handwriting in school?
