On a particular cold and icy day last winter {2010}, Brent had to help his mom out with something. Being that she is about 30 minutes out of town and I tend to get a little bit of anxiety in certain situations, I was {naturally} a little worried, not just for him but the others on the road as well.
As a result, I packed him a *survival kit* of sorts – with granola bars, bottled water, juice boxes, and more – just in case he was left stranded on the road {for any reason} or came across someone else who was. Not to mention if someone else was stranded AND had children with them. I also included a couple Campbell’s Soup to go and some packages of oatmeal and hot chocolate that could be mixed up {a hot snack would be welcome in the cold weather} – but wasn’t entirely sure how I was going to keep water hot….I just used one of our stainless steel travel mugs and hoped for the best, but honestly this little *survival kit* could have benefited from a Keep Cup – the size is perfect, there is no annoying handle that gets in the way of the vehicle cup holder, it has a silicone strip so you don’t burn yourself, and it would also keep the water hot! Plus I like the way they look {yes it matters lol}.
{from the website}
They are barista standard because they replicate standard takeaway sizes and fit under the group heads of most espresso machines. When espresso based coffee is made in your KeepCup the crema remains intact and the portioning of milk to coffee will be correct.
Made from plastic they are BPA free and non-toxic. KeepCups are not a thermos or sealed vessel, they have thermal properties like a disposable cup and are splashproof. The seal is to prevent the dregs of a finished coffee leaking in your bag and to help in carrying your coffee to your destination. Their function replicates disposable cups, so they are lightweight, easy to carry and have low embodied energy in manufacture. KeepCups are dishwasher safe and microwaveable with the lid off.
KeepCups fit into most car cup holders and many bicycle bottle holders.
You know what else I love? You can totally design your own – plug, lid, silicon band, and the cup colour are all up to you! love.
I was sent a chocolate brown KeepCup for review, and I LOVE it! Our weather surprisingly hasn’t been snowy and cold at all so I haven’t had a ton of chances to use it {hot drinks on warm days don’t always appeal to me} but I am just tickled about it. I may have to go on a ski vacation just so I can parade around with my *uber* cool KeepCup in the cold winter weather. 🙂
Popular in Australia, New Zealand, and the U.K. for years, KeepCup is finally making it’s {fabulous} U.S. debut!

**I was sent a KeepCup at no cost to faciliatate this review.
But {as always}, all opinions are my own**
