Jillian Michaels – 30 Day Shred {Review}

I have had so many inquiries about Shred and what it is exactly that I knew a blog post was in order! Many of you know Jillian Michaels from The Biggest Loser, even if you aren’t a watcher of the show….but if you aren’t familiar with her (you’re missing out!), check out her BIO to find out everything she’s accomplished! Having struggled with her own weight and the challenges of making changes, she understands the trials and triumphs of making and achieving goals. How awesome is that!

So her 30 day Shred! In just 20 minutes a day, you can lose up to 20lbs in 30 days! Who doesn’t want that!!! And the great thing is that you are toning at the same time. Using her fabulous 3-2-1 system (3 minutes strength, 2 minutes cardio, 1 minute abs) she helps transform your body in weeks!

I’m proof of this! We have a holiday coming up soon and I made the goal to wear a bikini. It’s been 8 years. Fat or Flat I was wearing one – and I was really hoping for flat. So I decided to see what changes could happen and decided to test the Shred theory. Here’s what I did:

Week 1: Shred level 1 monday-friday

Week 2: Shred level 2 monday-thursday

Week 3: Incredibly sick all week..flat on my back…unable to eat anything….lost 7lbs!

Week 4: Back at it, but back at level 1 because I wasn’t 100%. So, Level 1 Tuesday-Thursday

Week 5: Level 2 monday, No More Trouble Zones Tuesday, Thursday Zumba Class, Friday Level 3

Week 6 (this week): Level 3 today and the rest of the week coming up!

So that’s where I am now…I never let my goal get away from me and am constantly talking myself through it. Picturing what I want, especially during the workouts, gives me the motivation to keep doing it (and at the end of each one I say to myself *I did it!*). And you know, I’m LOVING it. 20 minutes is easy to fit in, easy to talk yourself through, and clearly gets results. It’s not enough to just have the DVD or say you’re going to do it….you have to actually get up and do it!

In just 5 weeks I’ve lost an additional 5 1/2″ and I am feeling better than ever. In fact, I took out my bucket of *too small* clothes today and was so pleasantly surprised! I fit into a pair of pants that I wore 9 years ago when my husband and I were dating – and they look good! AND THEY ARE SIZE 4!!!! Tell me that isn’t a great way to start the week – nevermind motivating to keep doing it.

I am a HUGE fan of the 30 Day Shred and will continue to use it regularly.  I also have her No More Trouble Zones, which is also fabulous! I highly recommend any and all of her workout DVD’s (including the Biggest Loser ones that I also have) and think they are an excellent investment.I also just discovered she has a new DVD out called *Ripped in 30* that I am DYING to try!

Also – check out her website and on facebook for lots of other information and tips! I know this – YOU can do it too!!! Just set a goal – even a 4 week one and see what the results are. Take your before measurements so you have something to compare to. And go for it!!!
