Every time I work out I have two little shadows that join in, trying their best to mimick the moves. I love it, and we always end up laughing and enjoy a wee moment of bonding. I love it when the kids see me exercising and doing what I can to keep myself healthy and strong {though, admittedly it’s not as often as I’d prefer}. And I love seeing them up and moving too – so much better than just couch potatoe-ing it. I hope being active and exercising are always important parts of their lives.
So do the Founders of Playful Planet and Creators of Storyland Yoga 🙂
Storyland Yoga takes the natural behaviors of animals, modifies them into classic yoga poses, and adds a creative storyline – giving a fun and interesting {and arguably educational} element to what kids may normally not keep their attention span for. Love.

Shortly after meeting {over 12 years ago}, Bryan and Karen Duggan found themselves making a pact to “crank up the voltage of human awareness — by creating uplifting media that will both entertain and empower people.” Wow. Pretty lofty goal. Over the years, this pact has continued to morph as they grew, and currently they are aspiring to “develop media to inspire kids to healthy & sustainable lifestyles, from a young age, with fun, engaging and educational activities.”
I received a copy of Playful Planet’s Storyland Yoga DVD for review – to help determine whether their aspirations are on the right track. Have they, in fact, found a way to inspire our children to a healthier, more active lifestyle? A life filled with more peace, self confidence, and ease?
I think so
As you’ll see through my collection of photos, Jonah had a great time following along. I think it helped that the yoga group in the video was also kids – but he genuinely enjoyed himself. While there are a few things I would personally change about the video, I love the theory and vision behind it – and loved watching Jonah *play* along {and even joined him for a few moves}.
When I asked him afterwards if he liked it, he answered with a decisive YES! – though I assumed as much, seeing as he requested it be on repeatedly all morning. Seriously.
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
