Well Christmas has finally come to our house….we are in the middle of some renos (kitchen ceiling) that have made for a pretty dusty experience so I was holding off. One week before Christmas and I couldn’t wait any longer!
One of the things we did today was make sugar cookies. the kids had a blast cutting and decorating them – and I had fun watching them.
Here is the recipe!
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened (I use margarine)
3 oz cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup honey
1 egg
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
pinch of salt
1. Beat butter, cream cheese, sugar, honey, egg, and vanilla in a large bowl until creamy. Stir in flour, baking powder, and salt until well blended. Form dough into ball and wrap in plastic wrap. Refrigerate about 2 hours or until firm.
2. Preheat oven to 350. Lightly grease cookie sheets (I use parchment paper) – roll out dought to 1/4″ thickness on floured surface with lightly floured rolling pin. Use cookie cutters to make desired shapes.
3. Bake for 8-10 minutes, until edges are lightly browned. Let cool completely on wire racks before decorating!
